VICTORIAN SILVER TIPSTAFF. PRINCE OF WALES 1876 #9796

A Victorian Silver Tipstaff, embossed sheet silver decorated with the Prince of Wales feathers and motto for Edward VII and the Guildhall coat of arms and inscribed "GUILDHALL 1876" and "DOMINE DIRIGE NOS" with the original whale bone handle, overall 45cm    #9796foo

 On 26 September 1875, Prince Edward set off for India on an extensive eight-month tour; on the way, he visited Malta, and Greece He returned to England on 11 May 1876, after stopping off at Portugal having visited 21 cities in India. a banquet was given on the 19th May 1876 in the Great Hall Guildhall by the City of London Corporation to celebrate his safe return, the Prince of Wales presented each of the organisers of the banquet one of these tipstaffs
